G’day, I’m Jules.
Who am I? It’s ok, I hear that a lot. I’m the editor in chief and founder of The Fantasy Magazine and Julie Clyde Creative.
Born and raised in Canberra, Australia, I am the youngest child of a hard-working couple who both excelled in their educational careers. They retired from teaching to open their own successful businesses which gave me the best example of being able to work for myself whilst supporting a family.
I spent countless hours as a child sneaking into the family study to hold, play with and click all the buttons on dad’s beloved SLR camera, whilst daydreaming about who or what I might capture with one of my own when I was older. Who knew it would lead me to a career. After studying Industrial Design I embarked on a decade-long adventure building and developing my creative style whilst working full-time in operational management, design, and retail.
I have a lifelong love of creating, and I continue that passion for learning all aspects of art, psychology, emotive imagery, and photo manipulation. This joy of learning has seen me earn many international awards for my work. I have developed my own style of highly creative portraits which transcends portrait traditions. The introduction of ai artwork has been another interesting chapter in my creative journey. Being able to generate concepts and visualize ideas more has been a great adventure.
Throughout my professional career, I have found a deep love for branding businesses as well as creating imagery for them. I have created for small businesses through to large organizations and each is treated as if they are family. I love seeing their success and growth as they utilize their brands to create a clear and succinct online presence for their clients.
Debra has brought me two of her brands to create for. We met through business back in 2015 and have become longtime friends with many adventures under our belts both professionally and personally. She is an incredible business-minded person and working with her has been such an honor. In December 2023 she invited me to create an artwork for her mother’s Christmas gift and I didn’t even need to think about that! That post will definitely be for another day.
Her latest adventure sees Debra’s background in Medicine combined with Health and Wellness, to build a foundation for guiding and supporting her clients through making transformational choices effortlessly. Her business “Flourish Health and Wellness” was brought to me and during our concept generation talks I felt she was after a clean, effortless brand to support the intelligence and kindness she brings to her work. Deb did ask that it didn’t come across too clinical so we ensured the graphic in her logo had shakti. For those of you wondering, Shakti is a combination of wisdom and intuition, action and intention, and a manifestation of creativity, and inspiration. It’s an intention behind a brand. A feeling you get when you see a really well-done brand. It can lead clients to you effortlessly because they feel the intention behind your branding.
The graphic accompanying the text logo created a lot of meaning for Deb. The gentle blue circle and the figure moving towards the viewer signified growth and moving forwards from where you are. The arms up, celebrating small wins along the way, the green head was seed-like and the two leaves were the seed flourishing and germinating. Because nothing was held inside a circle or contained it help build freedom to the overall image.

In the early stages of a brand, I like to put together a horizontal logo and also offer a vertical option. Accompanying these brand marks I always create a branding sheet that has the business logos, fonts, and colors. It is a really simple sheet BUT when they utilize this sheet with social media, designers, marketing, sign writers, etc, it means EVERYTHING about their branding will be on point each and every time.
The next steps would involve an hour interview to go through what I love to create, which is a complete branding guide. These guides become pillars of a business long term. I have had clients utilize them to go to banks for loans, apply for funding, have complete websites created, and more. They step the client through every last nook and cranny of their business. What messaging are they intending, what colors, what does growth look like for them long term, and what does their imagery say about them to their clients? Is that the impression they want to be giving? This part of the design process certainly takes time but the long-term benefits can be massive.
At the end of the process, the client is given a digital PDF and printed booklet of their brand guide along with their logos in PNG (clear background), JPEG and also social sizes to help them post across their socials and websites.
The beauty of what I do, I can, and have created full marketing packages for previous clients and held on retainer whilst they grow and develop their brands. Business cards? No problem. Printing? No problem, Websites? No problem. Icons, templates and Merch? I can do all of that and then some.
